English pop band Florence + The Machine has announced their sixth studio album, Everybody Scream, set for release on October 31. The project will mark their first full release since 2022’s Dance Fever. Fronted by Florence Welch, the London-formed group has been one of the most distinctive forces in pop since breaking through in 2008 with “Kiss With a Fist” and their debut record Lungs.
Welch teased the record in recent months with cryptic studio photos, including sessions with Idles guitarist Mark Bowen and a whiteboard scrawled with the phrase “Swans vs. Adele.” The title track will be acting as the first single of the album which is slated to release with a music video on August 20. The album’s imagery points to the mix of gothic drama and grand-scale intimacy that has defined her work for more than a decade. For more than a decade and across six albums, Welch’s brand of chamber pop has left a permanent mark on the wider pop landscape. Her mix of cathedral-scale arrangements, theatrical vocals, and intimate lyricism has helped shape a space where baroque flourishes and emotional urgency coexist.
The announcement arrives during a reflective period for the band. This year marked the 10th anniversary of How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, their 2015 release, while last year saw Welch perform a one-off orchestral show at London’s Royal Albert Hall to honor the 15th anniversary of Lungs. She also surprised fans at Glastonbury 2025 back in June, appearing during The Maccabees’ set for “Love You Better” before taking on her own anthem “Dog Days Are Over.”
