Las Piñas Representative Camille Aguilar Villar-Genuino is a member of the Villar and Aguilar political families. Relatives of note are her former Senate President Manny Villar, her mother Senator Cynthia Villar, brother Senator Mark Villar, and late maternal grandfather former Las Piñas Representative Filemon Aguilar, who also served as the city’s mayor from 1964 to 1986 and made it the family’s stronghold.

While she has not been vocal about many issues concerning the country today, she has made her mark in the election season so far through her political advertisements, which include posters that say, “Ingat sa biyahe.”

Here’s everything you need to know about Villar and her platforms for the upcoming senatorial elections.

Current positions: Las Piñas Representative (since 2019), Deputy Speaker of the House (since 2022), Vista Land Managing Director

Education: Master of Business Administration from Instituto de Estudios Superiores de la Emprese, BS Business Management from Ateneo de Manila University

Previous positions: Brittany Corporation (Vista Land) Chief Operating Officer, Wil Time Big Time co-host (2012-2013)

Affiliated parties: Nacionalista Party, Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas

Political Stances

Governance

According to the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, Villar spent P13 million in Facebook ads from July to December 2024, the most out of other competitors for the senatorial race, and a total of over P1 billion for political ads in 2024 — before the campaign period started on February 11, 2025.

Asked in March 2025 what she thought about political dynasties, Villar said, “All the candidates naman that are put in a position are elected, so it’s the choice of the people.”

In August 2023, she urged the legislature to pass a law requiring law enforcement officers to wear body cameras and dashboard cameras on duty after Navotas City police mistook a boy for a suspect and killed him.

She has not addressed issues concerning corruption, bureaucracy, the justice system, and Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs).

Economy

Villar has advocated for the expansion of environmental work opportunities — also known as green jobs — and sustainable employment that also protects the environment. She said in February 2025, “By investing in clean energy, sustainable industries, and eco-friendly business practices, we can generate more employment opportunities while addressing climate challenges.” She shared plans to introduce policies that will boost sectors like agriculture, waste management and eco-tourism in order to further drive job creation.

She has also filed bills seeking to promote corporate social responsibility and integrated urban agriculture, or the agricultural and fisheries production of food and goods in urban areas, though these bills have not seen further action in the legislature since they were filed in the 18th Congress.

Human Rights and Social Justice

Villar spoke in support of the LGBTQ community in June 2024, calling for a stop to SOGIE-based discrimination. However, she has not given her position on the SOGIE Equality Bill and gender rights issues.

She also has not shared her position on other human rights issues like the divorce bill, indigenous rights, and the war on drugs.

Healthcare

In the National Buntis Assembly in November 2024, she said, “Sa aking trabaho po sa Kongreso, marami po akong nakahain na mga batas na naglalayong mapalawak ang access sa maternal health care para sa mga ina, lalo na po sa mga kababayan nating nasa malalayong lugar.” During her time in Congress, she filed a bill proposing flexible work arrangements for pregnant women and postnatal mothers and a bill seeking to grant maternity benefits to women in the informal economy.

Villar attended the inauguration of the Las Piñas Drug Abuse Treatment & Rehabilitation Center in October 2019, but she has not given her opinion on drug reform in the country.

National Security and Foreign Policy

Asked if she was “pro-Philippines or pro-China” in a February 2025 press conference with the rest of the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas slate, Villar said that she is pro-Philippines, but did not elaborate further. She was asked the same question by a vlogger in an earlier ambush interview, but she said that she did not hear the question.

She has not given her stance on other issues regarding foreign relations.

Environment and Disaster Preparedness

In March 2025, Villar called for the full implementation of laws addressing the effects of climate change on agriculture and the environment. “There is a lot of legislation on this that we need to make sure is properly implemented and there are a lot of trends in innovations around the world right now that we can probably apply to our local agricultural industry,” she said. However, she did not give specific measures pending full implementation.

In 2020, she proposed the creation of a Commission on the Right to Adequate Food, which would be tasked with implementing programs and policies that ensure food security during calamities.

In 2023, she filed a bill seeking to make freight services free for organizations transporting relief goods during natural disasters.

Disinformation

In July 2024, Villar warned against a Facebook page using her photo to scam other users. However, she has not commented on larger disinformation issues in the country.

Infrastructure Development

In February 2025, Villar attended the meeting of the United Architects of the Philippines and the United Suppliers of the Philippines, where she commended the organizations’ contributions to infrastructure and urban development. She said their work “goes to making the lives of our kababayans better because the work that you do really provides more jobs for Filipinos and has an invaluable contribution to the economy, more than often people give you credit for.”

Youth and Culture

Villar has carried out various programs and proposed policies to support children, students, and the education sector. In October 2024, she filed a bill seeking to establish programs and services for the mental health and wellbeing of teachers. In April 2024, she worked with the Department of Social Welfare and Development to deliver cash aid to 2,000 college students from indigent families in Las Piñas.

Sara Duterte Impeachment

Villar has not given her opinion on the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.

Ahead of the midterm elections, Rolling Stone Philippines is taking a closer look at the Top 15 senatorial candidates based on the January 2025 surveys by polling firms Social Weather Stations and Pulse Asia.
