ACT-CIS Representative Erwin Tulfo still leads in the latest Social Weather Stations survey of preferred senatorial bets for the midterm elections, garnering 45 percent of intended votes.

Despite recent controversy surrounding the upcoming Pepsi Paloma film, Senator Tito Sotto saw a 7-percentage point increase in intended votes, jumping from 31 percent in the December 2024 survey to 38 percent in the latest report.

Included in the report’s top 13 preferred senatorial candidates are Senators Lito Lapid and Bong Go, former Philippine National Police Chief Ping Lacson, radio personality Ben Tulfo, Sen. Pia Cayetano, former Sen. Manny Pacquiao, Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, Senators Bato Dela Rosa and Bong Revilla, television personality Willie Revillame, and former Sen. Kiko Pangilinan.

In the December 2024 survey, Senator Imee Marcos made the top 12, tied with Las Piñas Representative and House Deputy Speaker Camille Villar. This year, however, she fell short at 28 percent votes, only a percentage point less than Pangilinan’s votes. She is followed by Villar at 26 percent. Former Senator Bam Aquino and media personality Doc Willie Ong tied at 20 percent of votes.

Social research firm SWS conducted face-to-face interviews with 1,800 registered voters nationwide — 300 from Metro Manila, 900 from Luzon outside of Metro Manila, 300 from Visayas, and 300 from Mindanao. The respondents were asked, “Kung ang eleksyon ay gaganapin ngayon, sino po ang pinakamalamang ninyong iboboto bilang senador ng Pilipinas?” and handed a mock ballot to fill out. SWS also noted that the list of candidates was in alphabetical order, and included nicknames, as practiced by the Commission on Elections.

The survey was conducted by SWS from January 17 to 20 and is a follow-up to an earlier survey conducted in December 2024.
