We finally have a date for Quezon starring Jericho Rosales in the titular role Manuel L. Quezon, the Philippines’ second president. The latest biopic from director Jerrold Tarog, is set to release in Philippine theaters on October 15.

Quezon marks the completion of the Tarog’s “Bayaniverse” trilogy, a series of films produced by TBA Studios highlighting major figures in Philippine history. The triptych’s first two films, Heneral Luna (2015) and Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral (2018), centered on the lives of famed General Antonio Luna and Gregorio del Pilar, respectively. Seven years after the second “Bayaniverse” film was released, Quezon arrives to shed light on the early life and legacy of the former President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines.

“Here, you will see Quezon as a person,” Rosales said in an official press statement announcing his role in the movie. “He’s not written as a hero. He is cunning, he is charming, he is intelligent. Quezon is such an interesting character to play… that adds to the pressure, but at the same time, I am very excited.”

Also joining Rosales is Iain Glen, widely recognized for his role as the disgraced Ser Jorah Mormont in Game of Thrones. Glen will be taking on the role of Leonard Wood, whose tenure as Governor-General in the Philippines was marked by his deep entanglement with the rift between Quezon and his vice president at the time, Don Sergio Osmeña Sr.

The film also brings back Benjamin Alves, Mon Confiado and Aaron Villaflor, who reprise their roles as a young Quezon, Emilio Aguinaldo, and Joven Hernando from the earlier movies. The star-studded cast features Cris Villanueva playing the older version of Hernando, Karylle Yuzon portraying Quezon’s wife Aurora, and JC Santos as former president Manuel Roxas.
