The Philippines will soon have the chance to watch Holy Wood Dust, the latest by acclaimed Russian filmmaker Victor Kossakovsky (Architecton, Gunda), as it makes its way to SinePop for an exclusive screening and Philippine premiere on November 7.

Holy Wood Dust features Italian botanist Stefano Mancuso and explores the life and intelligence of trees, particularly the journey of a Christmas fir tree from the forest to St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican. Kossakovsky provides audiences with a scientifically groundbreaking invitation to reimagine how plants think and feel, as the film investigates how humans interact with the vegetal world.

In the documentary’s trailer, Mancuso says, “Trees. They are not things. They are life itself. They are, in fact, living beings that can feel, that perceive their surroundings.”

The film is presented by FilDocs, in partnership with the Film Academy of the Philippines. The local premiere follows the ’s successful debut at the prestigious 83rd Venice International Film Festival, or the La Biennale di Venezia, in the Venice Open Out of Competition section last September.
