Chappell Roan has announced that she is no longer represented by Wasserman, the talent agency led by entertainment executive Casey Wasserman. The exec was recently found to have exchanged “flirty” emails with Ghislaine Maxwell, who is connected to sex offender and deceased businessman Jeffrey Epstein.
In 2022, Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison over five charges, which include sex trafficking a minor and recruiting four girls to be sexually abused by Epstein between 1994 and 2004.
“I hold my teams to the highest standards and have a duty to protect them as well,” said Roan in an Instagram story on Tuesday, February 10. “Artists deserve representation that aligns with their values and supports their safety and dignity. This decision reflects my belief that meaningful change in our industry requires accountability and leadership that earns trust.”
Wasserman’s emails to Maxwell, made public by the U.S. Department of Justice’s “Epstein files,” date back to 2003. In a statement, he said, “I deeply regret my correspondence with Maxwell, which took place over two decades ago, long before her horrific crimes came to light.”
Wasserman, who chairs the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, said he had never had a personal or business relationship with Epstein but admitted he went on a humanitarian trip with the Clinton Foundation in 2002 aboard the “Epstein plane.”
