SB19 is officially the first homegrown Filipino act to perform at Lollapalooza in Chicago, making history as one of the first P-pop acts and the first all-Filipino group to ever grace the Grant Park stage. The group announced its inclusion on March 17. Throughout the festival’s history, Filipino-British rock artist beabadoobee and Filipino-American pop star Olivia Rodrigo have appeared on the lineup in 2025 and 2026.
On February 20, SB19 released their latest single “VISA,” a dance-pop anthem that tackles the inequalities Filipino artists and professionals face when securing visas for international work. The group also performed at Japan’s D.U.N.K. Showcase on March 15 and is preparing for their “Wakas at Simula: Concert Finale” at the SMDC Festival Grounds on April 18.
Joining SB19 are a mix of unexpected yet eclectic heavy hitters, including cloud rap artist fakemink, New York indie rock quartet Geese, and hardcore punk outfit Turnstile, among others. The selection mixes a good amount of alternative and mainstream acts, making this year’s Lollapalooza one of the more varied in recent memory.
This year’s Lollapalooza will take place from July 30 to August 2 at Grant Park in Chicago, with Charli XCX, Tate McRae, Lorde, Olivia Dean, JENNIE, The Smashing Pumpkins, and The xx headlining the bill.
