Marina Summers is about to break new ground as the first trans woman to host Miss Universe Philippines.
Following her performance at the pageant’s coronation evening in 2024, Summers is returning to this year’s coronation as its host. The ceremony will take place on May 2 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
“So honored to be [making] herstory again,” wrote Summers in an Instagram story announcing her hosting duties. “From being the first drag queen to perform on the Miss Universe stage, to becoming the first trans woman to host the pageant.”
Since placing as the runner-up on Drag Race Philippines Season 1 in 2021, Summers’ career has consistently broken new ground in the drag world. She has since placed fourth on Drag Race: UK vs. The World, taken over the Vegas main stage at the RuPaul’s Drag Race Live!, and traveled the world as part of the franchise’s WERQ THE WORLD 2025 tour. Summers also kickstarted her career as a pop artist in 2020 with her debut single, “I Have Arrived.”
In 2024, Summers became the first drag queen to ever grace the Miss Universe Philippines stage after performing her single, “AMAFILIPINA,” for the evening’s opening number.
Joining Summer at this year’s coronation is Miss Universe Philippines 2025 Ahtisa Manalo, who is set to crown the next queen to represent the country in Miss Universe 2026. P-pop group BGYO will also be performing at the ceremony.
