After more than two decades of discovering rock acts, the competition returns with a P1 million prize at stake

Red Horse Beer Pambansang Muziklaban has officially opened submissions until September 20. Established in 1999, it has become the country’s longest-running rock band competition. Past winners of the competition include Mayonnaise, Woopis, and Happy Three Friends. It also showcased massive guest performances from Greyhoundz, Wilabaliw, Urbandub, Kjwan, and many more over the years.

Bands are allowed to apply as long as members are between 21 and 45 years old, and any rock subgenre is welcome to join, from nu-metal and alternative rock to reggae. Once applications are accepted, bands will participate in eliminations until the culminating event at the 2026 Pambansang Muziklaban event to be announced later in the year. The Grand Champions of the competition will take home a cash prize of P1,000,000.

Last March 14, Davao metal outfit Tamad Si Juan were hailed as Grand Champions. Since winning, the band has co-headlined Fete De La Musique Davao in June, got recognition from Queso vocalist Ian Tayao on his YouTube series, and toured all over the Mindanao region. 

Pambansang Muziklaban 2026 registration is now open via Google Forms.
