LEGO’s latest collaborator is Filipino-American pop singer Olivia Rodrigo, who showcases five new sets inspired by SOUR, GUTS, and you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. It also includes minifigures based on some of Rodrigo’s most recognizable performances, a LEGO guitar model, and a botanical set. The announcement also revealed that the LEGO sets will be available in the Philippines starting August 1.
“I’ve always loved hiding little details and meanings in my music and videos, so working with LEGO to bring something that fans can actually build and explore together has been so exciting,” Rodrigo said in a statement. “There are so many pieces of my world inside these sets — little nods to songs, memories, outfits and moments that mean a lot to me.”
Piecing The Music Together
LEGO has consistently collaborated with musicians over the last decade, bringing artists and their worlds into brick form and a colorful collection of building blocks.
Rodrigo joins a star-studded list of LEGO’s music collaborations, with several artists getting their own sets over the years. Back in 2016, the Beatles got the LEGO treatment with a Yellow Submarine set based on the band’s animated film, complete with minifigures of the four members modeled after their outfits in the movie.
In 2023, LEGO collaborated with BTS on an exclusive set featuring minifigures of all seven members alongside a build inspired by the music video for “Dynamite,” complete with the giant donut outside the shop, the minifigures’ hairdos, and more.
A year later, in 2024, solo music producer and songwriter Pharrell Williams released his own LEGO set featuring a unique setup, such as an abacus called “My Phriends” and a rocket ship taking off. He also released his LEGO-inspired biopic, Piece by Piece.
