Golden Globes-nominated Filipino actress Dolly De Leon is serving cold, stoic, and mysterious in the first-look photos from Nine Perfect Strangers’ second season. The series, which stars Nicole Kidman, Henry Golding, and Annie Murphy, among others, is set to release its latest season on Hulu on May 21.
Based on the 2018 mystery novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty, Nine Perfect Strangers follows nine strangers (as the title suggests!) who gather for a ten-day retreat at a luxury health and wellness resort. Their host, the enigmatic Masha Dmitrichenko (Kidman), leads the group on a journey of self-discovery, with just a splash of drama, deceit, and crime.
While the show’s first season was set in the sunny Tranquilum House in California, this second season sees a new cast of strangers taking on a resort tucked away in the cold, snowy (and, dare I say, dangerous) Austrian Alps. Little has been revealed about De Leon’s character, save for the fact that her name is Agnes and that De Leon is the only Filipino cast member in this latest season.
De Leon first entered the international spotlight after her performance in the 2022 black comedy Triangle of Sadness earned her a Golden Globe nomination. Prior to that cinematic project, De Leon had already become a permanent presence in Philippine theater, television, and film for years. From an award-winning performance in the 2019 crime drama Verdict to her most recent critically acclaimed role as a domineering Jewish mother in the 2024 drama Between the Temples, De Leon has consistently demonstrated her knack for commanding attention on both the local and global stage.
