While this isn’t a huge chunk of the population, it does contribute to the fast fashion’s alarming multitude of environmental and labor issues. In an industry driven by fast turnarounds and novelty, custom design remains a more deliberate practice. Patricia Pascual Designs operates in that space, focusing on fully bespoke gowns and suits.
Founded seven years ago by designer Patricia Pascual, the atelier began in her family home and has since grown into a Mandaluyong studio known for its hands-on approach to custom work. Each piece is designed from the ground up, beginning with consultations that focus on the client’s lifestyle, personal taste, and the occasion the garment is meant for. From there, designs move through fittings and revisions handled entirely in-house by an all-women team of artisans.
Rather than working around seasonal collections, Pascual centers her process on individual commissions. Bridal gowns make up a large part of her studio’s work, alongside formalwear and other tailored pieces.
Pascual is closely involved at every stage of production, often working directly with clients throughout the entire process. Many return for future pieces or refer family members and friends, resulting in long-term relationships that extend beyond a single commission. Over the years, the studio’s work has been worn by renowned actresses and singers, including Julie Anne San Jose, Nadine Lustre, Mariel Rodriguez, Heart Evangelista, Rufa Mae Quinto, and Elisse Joson.
The visibility has helped introduce the brand to a wider audience, while the studio continues to operate on a made-to-order model rooted in Filipino craftsmanship. In a world of quick cycles and disposable trends, Pascual’s approach shows that fashion can still be made with intention.
