The Philippines has no shortage of disturbing true crime stories: from unresolved disappearances to high-profile killings. These are crimes that drew national attention but have been buried in the news cycle over time. Philippines’ Most Shocking Stories returns to these cases not to sensationalize them, but to confront the unsettling truths they reveal.

Premiering on July 15 at 8:00 p.m. on the ABS-CBN News YouTube Channel, the series revisits true crime cases that once dominated national headlines, including the murder of a famed movie star, a fraternity hazing turned fatal, a child’s body found stuffed in an abandoned suitcase, and the discovery of an overseas Filipino worker’s body hidden in a freezer. Each of the series’ 10 episodes will include an in-depth retelling of timelines, witness accounts, and insights approaching the tragedy in a new light.

Philippines’ Most Shocking Stories’ premiere episode focuses on the 2023 disappearance of local beauty queen and teacher Catherine Camilon, who, as of writing, has yet to be found. The case’s main suspects, former police major Allan de Castro and driver Jeffrey Magpantay, were released on bail in March.

Journalists Lyza Aquino, MJ Felipe, Jeff Caparas, and Jessie Cruzat will be leading the series, tracing key evidence and testimonies to piece together a fuller understanding of each case.

“We want to help find the resolution to the cases that we will be featuring,” ABS-CBN News chief Francis Toral said in an interview with PhilStar, “and to remind viewers that these stories happened. As the headlines proceed and overtake them, these stories remain.”

The Philippines’ Most Shocking Stories continues ABS-CBN’s tradition of producing true crime content, following in the footsteps of shows such as S.O.C.O.: Scene of the Crime Operatives and Calvento Files, which delve into real-life cases and justice narratives.
