Our favorite chainsaw-headed devil hunter is making his debut on the big screen. Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc is releasing in Philippine cinemas this month, and animation studio MAPPA just dropped the movie’s latest trailer.
Chainsaw Man — both the anime and the manga created by Tatsuki Fujimoto — follows Denji, a down-on-his-luck teenager who is trying to work off his late father’s debt to the yakuza by working as a devil hunter. His bosses eventually turn on him and have him killed; luckily, though, Denji’s dog Pochita is really a Chainsaw Devil and makes a deal with the teen to merge with his soul and save his life. Now armed with the ability to turn any part of his body into a chainsaw, Denji now makes a living chainsawing through demons as part of a government-sanctioned group of devil hunters.
Yes, Chainsaw Man may sound slightly outlandish, but it definitely delivered some of the funniest, bloodiest, and tragic storylines in recent years. The movie will pick up where the series left off. The new trailer hints at a new romance between Denji and a mysterious young girl named Reze whom he meets while taking shelter from the rain in a café. However, while the trailer presents Reze as an innocent, wide-eyed teen, fans of Chainsaw Man know that there’s more to Reze than meets the eye.
Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc drops in Philippine cinemas on September 24.
