VMX — Vivamax’s rebranding since 2024 — is pivoting to film festivals.
The streaming service, launched by Viva Entertainment, has carved out a niche with its distinct take on erotic filmmaking. Lately, however, it has made a conscious push to broaden its scope beyond adult content: an effort highlighted by the launch of its inaugural CineSilip Film Festival.
Selecting from over 100 film entries, CineSilip is set to screen seven films that highlight the work and artistry of rising Filipino filmmakers. “Ito ang bagong festival ng mapangahas, matapang, at naiiba,” said CineSilip director Ronald Arguelles at the festival’s official launch.

The festival lineup includes films like the coming-of-age drama Ang Lihim ni Maria Makinang and the romantic drama Pagdaong (A Midnight Kiss). More adult-rated films will also be screened, including the erotic drama-comedy Babae Sa Butas (The Woman in the Hole), the psychological drama Dreamboi, the horror drama Haplos Sa Hangin (A Sinful Touch), the sexy comedy Maria Azama: Da Best P*rn Star, and the thriller Salikmata (Unseen).
“The loglines of these chosen films sound like your typical VMX film, focused on eroticism,” wrote Joker Manio for Rolling Stone Philippines’ May issue. “While it is very early to judge the festival on its originality compared to typically produced VMX films, one hopes the festival could actually give freedom to young visionaries and become truly revolutionary.”
CineSilip will take place from October 22 to 28 at Ayala Malls Cinemas.
