P-pop girl group G22 releases their debut album, The Dissection of Eve, on November 23. The record centers on self-empowerment and the group’s growth as a trio. They dedicate the album to what they call “the female alpha who owns her strength, her softness, her triumphs, and her scars.”
The album’s credits show the members taking charge of their composition, with members Jaz, Alfea, and AJ writing their own songs, such as “Groove On,” “Super Saiyan,” “KIAK (Kung Ikaw At Ako), to name a few. Their voice as a unit comes through in how the tracks move, connect, and how the record holds their own perspective as a girl group.
Ahead of the album’s release, G22 released the music video for “LAKUMPAKE,” one of the standout tracks in the album, on November 22. The video follows the members as they walk through a mirror and enter a separate dimension that ties into the album’s imagery of a stone head split into three parts. The visual brings them into the real world while they cut through the scenes with dance breaks that show the confidence they have built since their debut.
The Dissection of Eve has eight tracks and includes the singles “Pa-Pa-Pa-Palaban” and “Filipina Queen,” which open and close the record. The album is now available on all streaming platforms.
