KATSEYE is heading to the big screen with its first theatrical documentary, KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS, opening in limited cinemas worldwide on August 12, two days before the release of the group’s third EP, WILD. The documentary follows the group’s journey from the pressure-filled days of Dream Academy to becoming one of pop’s fastest-rising acts with the release of their hit singles “Gabriela,” “Touch,” “Gnarly,” to name a few.
Directed by Emmy-nominated documentary filmmaker Nadia Hallgren, WILD HEARTS features never-before-seen footage, interviews with members Sophia, Lara, Daniela, Megan, and Yoonchae. The documentary also includes fan videos from around the world.
Described as a “love letter” to their fans, aka EYEKONS, the film revisits the highs, setbacks, sacrifices, and breakthrough moments that defined the group’s rise following Netflix’s Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE. The project is produced by Interscope Films and Boardwalk Pictures in partnership with HYBE x Geffen, the same team behind the Netflix series.
As of writing, there is no announced Philippine release date. Pre-sale tickets for the worldwide theatrical release will be available beginning July 15 on their official website.
Will ‘KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS’ Erase Manon Bannerman?
As original founding member Manon Bannerman remains on temporary hiatus from KATSEYE, it is still unclear whether she will appear in KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS. Since stepping back from group activities in February to focus on her “health and well being,” her absence from recent releases has led to speculation about her future within the group. Neither Manon nor HYBE x Geffen has announced that she has left KATSEYE, and both the label and the members have continued to express support for her throughout their hiatus.
