Mitski is staging her first-ever Manila concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Tuesday, July 14, and now’s a good time to brush up on her discography.

In February, the American rock singer-songwriter released her latest album Nothing’s About to Happen to Me to critical acclaim, being praised for the depth and candor of her songwriting and lush production. With the album, she announced a tour that has so far brought her around Europe, the U.K., and Australia. Manila serves as her first stop in Asia.

The concert will also be the first time the cult favorite brings her music to a large Filipino audience. In June, fans were treated to Filipino lyric videos for tracks such as “Your Best American Girl,” “I Bet on Losing Dogs,” and “Once More to See You.” Could they be teasers for her setlist as well?

Ahead of Mitski’s concert in Manila, we’ve listed some of the songs we want to hear live.

‘My Love Mine All Mine’

Mitski found a viral song in “My Love Mine All Mine” when it hit over a million videos on TikTok two months after its release in September 2023 and made the Billboard Hot 100. This slow rock lullaby is the third single to come from her seventh album, The Land is Inhospitable and So Are We, and features Mitski’s tender vocals over pianos and steel guitars. It’s a song that anyone can easily sing along to.

‘Why Didn’t You Stop Me?’

“Why Didn’t You Stop Me” is a bit of a departure from Mitski’s catalog, but a good fit in Be the Cowboy. Upbeat with an acid synth bass, it’s also a great energizer in a concert repertoire that is otherwise expected to be slow and mellow.

‘Washing Machine Heart’

Mitski has shown herself to be something of a performer onstage, and her performance of “Washing Machine Heart” at Glastonbury 2022 is, to fans, proof of this. Here, she mimes navigating a wall and flails in the instrumental post-chorus. The moves are cleaner in the music video, but still weird enough to match the song’s synth organ hook.

‘I Bet on Losing Dogs’

Another Mitski song with some name recall is “I Bet on Losing Dogs,” which comes from the 2016 album Puberty 2. You already know how the TikTok-ified part of the song goes: “My baby, my baby / you’re my baby, say it to me.” The rest of the track is more devastating, and I would love to hear it live, with some sobbing from the audience (and myself).

‘Nobody’

It’s not a Mitski concert without “Nobody,” which became her first viral TikTok hit in 2021, three years after Be the Cowboy’s release. Here, she juxtaposes a bouncy disco-pop beat with lyrics and about being lonely, which captured and resonated with many during the pandemic. The cheerful, percussive clapping after the line “Still, nobody wants me” would be such a fun moment to experience live.

Mitski will be performing at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on July 14 as part of her “Nothing’s About to Happen to Me Tour.” Tickets are available at SM Tickets. After her tour, she is also set to join Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival.
