Laufey is now officially part of the Fortnite universe. The game just released two Laufey skins after weeks of rumors surrounding the new addition. A recent trailer from Epic Games shows what the pop-jazz star’s cosmetic outfits will look like during the game’s battle royale sequences.
One of the Laufey skins can be purchased in the Item Shop, while the other is can only be unlocked through the new Fortnite Music Pass. What’s more, Fortnite has announced the Icelandic singer as the upcoming headliner for the musical spin-off game, Festival, where several Laufey tracks have been added to the rhythm game (complete with karaoke mode). Fans can also unlock cosmetics inspired by her A Matter of Time arena tour.
“When I started out, I was known as this jazz girl and people assumed I was timid and soft,” Laufey said in an interview with NME. “Running around with a gun [in Fortnite] is absolutely the best way to show that there are so many more layers to me.”
This isn’t the first time that Fortnite has collaborated with high-profile musicians and invited them into the world of Festival. Laufey joins a growing roster of artists that have partnered with the video game, including Chappell Roan, Lady Gaga, and Billie Eilish.
“I take it as a great honor to be part of an initiative that Chappell Roan and Lady Gaga have gotten to be a part of,” continued Laufey. “They are such singular artists that march to the beat of their own drum.”
