Kathryn Bernardo and James Reid are no strangers to leading their own respective teleseryes. But it looks like the two stars will be sharing the limelight in ABS-CBN’s upcoming series, Someone, Someday.
The rom-com series, which is set to stream on Netflix later this year, follows a young woman, played by Bernardo, who designs a dating app to help women find love. A teaser released last year hints at Bernardo’s and Reid’s characters being best friends, with a slight dose of romantic tension rising to the surface. The series also stars Maja Salvador, who may or may not be hiding a secret.
“It’s a first for me, working with Ate Maj, with our directors, and of course, James,” said Bernardo in the Netflix Philippines press conference on Monday, February 9. The actress also noted how she’s slowly returning to acting in teleseryes, especially since her last show premiered almost four years ago.
“It’s taking a while to bounce back and work again,” said Bernardo. “My last series was back in 2022 for 2 Good 2 Be True. It’s a bit different, diba, when you’re doing a movie [and] when you’re doing a series. So [there’s been] a bit of warming up, and I can say that until now, I’m still warming up and still getting to know my character day by day.”
Reid echoed Bernardo’s statement about returning to the world of teleseryes. “It’s been a lot of nerves,” he said. “It’s been seven years since my last teleserye, but of course I’m very excited to have such an amazing cast and directors. I’ve connected a lot with my character Jordan, and… throughout the show, I get to inject a lot of my own music into the series. I’m also writing one of the songs for the show.”
Although no official release date has been announced, Netflix Philippines confirmed that Someone, Someday will be available on the platform 72 hours before it airs on ABS-CBN.
