Snoop Dogg Joins Hip-Hop’s Growing List of Big-Screen Biopics with ‘Snoop’

The West Coast rap icon’s story will be directed by Hustle & Flow filmmaker Craig Brewer and will feature music from his extensive catalog

Legendary West Coast rapper Snoop Dogg is set to release a biopic on the big screen on August 6, 2027. Film studio Universal Pictures announced on July 21. According to Deadline, the rapper’s biopic is titled Snoop, though the film’s specific focus on his career is yet to be revealed. Universal Pictures has previously released hip-hop films such as the N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton and Eminem’s 8 Mile.

Snoop Dogg revealed back in April that the film had entered production at film convention CinemaCon. The Hustle & Flow director Craig Brewer is set to helm the biopic. As the first project under Death Row Pictures’ overall deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment, the film will incorporate music from Snoop’s extensive catalog.

Snoop Dogg is known for iconic G-Funk and gangster rap songs such as “Gin and Juice,” “Beautiful,” “Signs,” and “Drop It Like It’s Hot” alongside Pharrell Williams, as well as collaborations with rap heavyweights Dre and Eminem throughout his career spanning three decades.
