Beabadoobee Turns Homesickness Into Her Most Emotional Album Yet

Beabadoobee’s latest album is one of her best albums so far. The Filipino-British alternative rock darling returns with Pylon, released last September 18. Other than the album lining up star-studded guest collaborators such as Paramore’s Hayley Williams in “Nothing to Prove,” Turnstile’s Brendan Yates in “Powerlines,” and Deftones’ Chino Moreno in “Satellite,” Beabadoobee casts a wider sonic palette in Pylon, writing catchier and sharper melodies than ever before.

The album was written out of homesickness during one of her tours. The outcome was constant experimentation and rougher textures compared to her last album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves, released back in August 2024. 

In an interview with ELLE magazine, the singer-songwriter said she wanted to make music that’s akin to emo bands like American Football and Mineral. Songs like “Sun Has Set” have jagged, discordant guitars that go along with Beabadoobee’s angsty vocal delivery, while “Write Me A Letter” plays around with electronic instruments like the drum machine and ambient textures. The last track “Satellite”’ has a fuzzy outro, on the other hand, signals her most emotional performance to date. 

Beabadoobee will be embarking on a tour promoting the new album in North America and Europe from October until December. Her last visit to the Philippines was in 2024 for her This Is How Tomorrow Moves tour.
