On September 19, alternative rock band Franco returned to the stage after more than a year of inactivity at the Teatrino Promenade in Greenhills. Frontman and lead guitarist Franco Reyes explained why the band hadn’t performed since 2025. Reyes said he figured in a pedestrian accident in January 2025.
During the concert’s intermission, Reyes addressed the concerns and rumors surrounding his absence following the accident. He recounted how he was waiting for a tricycle to pass before he could cross the road when a motorcycle suddenly hit him.
“My friends told me na tumilapon ako nang malayo and I hit the asphalt hard,” Reyes said as photos of him recovering in the hospital flashed onstage. “Nung pagtama [ng motor sa ‘kin], nag-blackout talaga ako. I am really lucky to be alive, man. It was scary because there were a lot of posts on Facebook and social media that said that I died. That was a really sad moment.”
Franco’s last concert prior to the accident was their year-end show at The ‘70s Bistro back in December 2024. On January 8, 2025, the band announced on Facebook that Franco wouldn’t be able to perform at the Sinulog 2025. Currently, Reyes is still recovering from the accident’s impact on his wrist and ACL.
Franco, who is known for hits like “Better Days,” “Castaway,” and “Songs for the Suspect,” is scheduled to play a second show due to high demand at the Teatrino Promenade on September 25.
