Bonnie Bailey is set to perform in Manila for the first time in years, and she’s doing it for free.
The American singer-songwriter, known to perform exclusively in beach parties and the voice behind the party hit “Ever After,” will take the stage at 19East, East Service Road, in Muntinlupa City on December 15. The announcement became a sweet chance for new and old audiences to hear a performer like Bailey, who defined an era of club culture, beach parties and late-night radio playlists of the time.
In May, Bailey headlined Hydro Manila’s takeover of Station 1’s Boracay Rock in Boracay Island which, for Filipino clubgoers since the 2000s, was a venue befitting of Bailey’s lore in the country. Similarly, for Manila, the upcoming set will feel like a reunion with a voice tied to countless dancefloor memories, offering a rare chance to see a singer who helped soundtrack a specific chapter of local nightlife.
“Ever After” became Bailey’s calling card in 2004 through the U.K. dance imprint Hedkandi, where it first appeared on the label’s Beach House 04.04 compilation alongside a roster of deep house staples that shaped the sound of that decade. In March, Hedkandi announced its return earlier this year after a long dormancy, a move that pulled nostalgia back into focus for Filipino fans who grew up with its glossy vector artwork and breezy house cuts.
