Daddy Aid, a benefit concert for Allan “Daddy A” Silonga, aims to raise funds for the veteran musician and producer’s ongoing medical talent, while also recognizing his enduring contributions to the local music scene.

Silonga has long been regarded as a key figure behind the scenes, known for shaping the careers of prominent acts and championing underrepresented genres. Silonga also served as an A&R for Def Jam Philippines. As a music executive, he played a pivotal role in the rise of IV of Spades and fundamentally reshaped the band template for a new generation, fusing retro funk aesthetics with razor-sharp contemporary songcraft.

Beyond his work in the industry, he is also an accomplished artist, having performed with acclaimed R&B groups Daddy’s Home and K24/7 (formerly Kindred Garden), both of which helped introduce R&B and hip-hop to the mainstream at a time when rock dominated the local charts.

Together with artists such as South Border and Carlos Agassi, Silonga helped pave the way for hip-hop and R&B music in the Philippines, proving that these genres could thrive despite early resistance from the mainstream.

His impact, however, is not limited to his commercial success. Silonga is widely known for his support of young, independent artists. As the founder of 1majin, a performance venue located in Marikina’s Katipunan Extension, he created a space where emerging musicians could experiment and grow. The venue became a hub for creative collaboration, particularly among Gen-Z artists and independent collectives seeking a platform beyond traditional industry pathways. This approach not only benefited individual performers but also strengthened the local music ecosystem as a whole, validating Silonga’s belief in the importance of grassroots development and artistic expression.

Set to take place at the Marikina Sports Center, the concert offers a fitting venue for an event rooted in solidarity and support. More than just a fundraiser, Daddy Aid serves as a reminder of Silonga’s decades-long commitment to Philippine music, as a mentor, collaborator, and advocate for artistic innovation.
