Hotdog’s Manila Sound Legacy Lives On With Star-Studded Tribute Concert

The Manila Sound pioneers reunite with original members and a new generation of artists for a one-night celebration at Newport Theater this August

Legendary Manila Sound band Hotdog will have its own tribute concert on August 8 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City. Best known for defining the Manila Sound movement and for hit songs such as “Manila,” “Pers Lab,” “Bongga Ka Day,” and “Annie Batungbakal,” the latter has since been adapted into the stage musical Bongga Ka, ‘Day: The Annie Batungbakal Musical, starring actress Atasha Muhlach.

The Hotdog Tribute Concert will feature three of the original members, Maso Diez-Rivera, Gina Montes-Infante, and Rita Saguin-Trinidad, who are set to reunite for a one-night tribute in honor of the legendary band that produced some of the biggest hits in Philippine music history.

The concert will also feature special performances and renditions by contemporary artists and actors such as Adie, Rob Deniel, Sam Concepcion, Wilbert Ross, as well as P-pop groups RAYA, ALAMAT, and GAT. Muhlach will also be performing at the concert.

Hotdog was formed by brothers, bassist Dennis Garcia, who passed away in 2020, and Rene Garcia, who passed away in 2018. Other members include drummer Jess Garcia, keyboardist Lorrie Illustre, vocalists Ella Del Rosario, Joy Reyes, to name a few.
