December Avenue is shaking up the alt-rock scene with an unexpected collaborator: Asia’s Phoenix Morissette.

The band’s new single “Ahon” is a sweeping anthem about finding what truly matters; its lyrics mirrored by sunset-drenched lighthouse visuals that pulse like a heartbeat. The track marks December Avenue’s first release since last August’s “Paraya,” and Morissette’s first single since “Ihilak Lang Na” in December 2024. The single was teased during a surprise set at Greenhills’ Teatrino Theater.

Morissette isn’t just a vocal powerhouse – though anyone who saw her dominate The Voice Philippines in 2013, or win Best Actress at the Manila International Film Festival for Song of the Fireflies, knows her voice would make audiences fall in love all over again. She’s a performer who can adapt to any genre she wishes to dip her toes into. Meanwhile, December Avenue has spent years sharpening their brand of “hugot rock” that scratches a different kind of itch. That’s what makes “Ahon” fascinating.

On paper, Morissette’s sky-high balladry and December Avenue’s grounded alt-rock orbit different universes. But through live performances, the track forces both into uncharted territory: Morissette trading perfection for raw, searching vibrato, the band stretching their sound to meet her luminosity. It’s the kind of unlikely alchemy that happens when artists at their peak decide to burn the rulebook instead of reading it.

“Ahon” by December Avenue and Morissette will be available on May 9 on streaming platforms everywhere.
