Japanese city pop legend and chart-topping artist Miki Matsubara’s previously unreleased tracks are now available for streaming online. Last July, Matsubara’s iconic track “Mayonaka No Door (Stay With Me)” reached a new milestone online by reaching over 500 million streams on Spotify. Shortly after, Matsubara’s management announced that seven unreleased tracks, previously accessible only through rare vinyl and physical CDs between 1979 and 1983, have now seen the light of day.
Among the newly available recordings is “Paradise Beach (Sophie no Theme),” a track associated with the iconic Maxell cassette commercial starring French actress Sophie Marceau. The track was composed by Haruomi Hosono, legendary musician and founding member of Yellow Magic Orchestra.
