The critically acclaimed jukebox musical, Liwanag Sa Dilim, featuring the iconic songs of Rico Blanco, has announced a final extension until May 4 due to popular demand. Directed by Robbie Guevara, who’s also behind the APO Hiking Society musical Eto Na! Musikal nAPO!, the production reimagines Filipino literature for modern audiences by adapting Jose Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere, blending Blanco’s anthemic hits with Gen Z-friendly humor and a time-hopping narrative that feels both fresh and nostalgic.
The story follows Elesi, an orphan unravelling the mysteries of his past, and Cris, his steadfast ally, as they spark a revolution that bridges generations. Blanco’s music serves as the emotional core, connecting characters across different eras, guided by songs that range from patriotic anthems to sharp social commentary. The production doesn’t just rely on nostalgia; it reinvents Blanco’s classics with contemporary staging, making songs like “Yugto” and “Antukin” resonate anew.

The cast is a mix of rising stars and seasoned performers, which includes Khalil Ramos, Anthony Rosaldo, CJ Navato, Alexa Ilacad, and Rita Daniela, whose performances have been praised for balancing the musical’s wit and heart.
Originally slated to close earlier, the show’s final extension adds a Saturday, May 3, 8 p.m. performance and a Sunday, May 4, 3 p.m. closing show at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati.
Tickets are available via Ticket2Me or through 9 Works Theatrical.
